Eating a Fei banana

Once a staple, a type of Fei banana known as Karat in the Micronesian island of Pohnpei, was being replaced by imported food before a campaign highlighting its nutritional value made it a favourite of locals once again. Its high levels of carotenoids, at the origin of its orange colour, are converted in the body to vitamin A.
